Velika Kladuša enters 2025 with significant changes and development projects shaping its business environment. The new Mayor Boris Horvat, elected in the early elections in December 2024, has announced intensified efforts to attract investments and resolve accumulated administrative issues.
Budget for 2025
The municipal budget for 2025 amounts to 25 million BAM, representing an increase compared to the previous year. Funds are allocated to:
- Infrastructure projects – modernization of road networks, water supply, and sewage infrastructure
- Economic support – subsidies for craftsmen, entrepreneurs, and agricultural producers
- Social programs – increased allocations for social categories of the population
- Education and culture – renovation of school facilities and cultural institutions
Mayor Horvat emphasized that the budget is development-oriented and that the priority will be creating a more favorable environment for private investments.
Resolving Pending Building Permits
One of the biggest challenges facing the new administration is resolving over 2,500 building permit applications that remained pending from the previous period. These applications represent a serious obstacle to economic development, as citizens and investors cannot start construction or realize their projects.
“This is one of the priorities. We must accelerate administrative procedures and enable investors to start implementing their projects,” stated Mayor Horvat.
Investment Promotion through FIPA
The Foreign Investment Promotion Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FIPA) continuously works on promoting the investment potential of Velika Kladuša. The municipality is recognized as a favorable location for investments thanks to:
- Proximity to the border with the Republic of Croatia and the European Union
- Available commercial land at competitive prices
- Qualified workforce
- Favorable business environment and incentive measures
Infrastructure Projects
Numerous infrastructure projects are underway or planned that will further improve the business environment:
- Road infrastructure reconstruction – rehabilitation of local roads and access roads to business zones
- Water supply and sewage – expansion of water supply network in industrial zones
- Digital infrastructure – improvement of broadband internet in business zones
Prospects for Further Development
2025 is expected to be a turning point for the economy of Velika Kladuša. With a new municipal administration showing readiness for reforms, resolution of administrative barriers, and continued investments in infrastructure, the prerequisites for attracting new investments and creating jobs have been established.
The Association of Entrepreneurs of Velika Kladuša has welcomed the announced measures and expressed expectations that the municipality will accelerate procedures and provide stronger support to existing and new entrepreneurs.
